“Rani Avantibai’s sacrifice to echo through centuries,” says MP CM Dr Yadav

Rani Avantibai museum Dindori: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav on Friday addressed a state-level programme via video conferencing on the martyrdom day of Rani Avantibai and paid tributes to her. On the occasion, he said that Rani Avantibai’s sacrifice for the motherland would remain unforgettable for generations. The Chief Minister also termed Madhya Pradesh a land of ‘valiant women.’ 

During this, he also recalled the legacy of iconic warriors such as Rani Durgavati and Rani Kamalapati, saying that these warrior queens fiercely resisted foreign invaders. He said, “Rani Avantibai’s courage and sacrifice will continue to inspire the upcoming generations.”

On the occasion, CM Dr Yadav also inaugurated a newly-constructed museum in Dindori dedicated to Rani Avantibai. The museum, as per officials, has been constructed at a cost of Rs 1 crore and will preserve her legacy. The Chief Minister noted that the museum, featuring a photo gallery and displays of her weapons, would serve as a lasting reminder of her valour. 

Rani Avantibai was a pivotal figure in the Revolt of 1857

CM Dr Yadav also shed light on Rani Avantibai’s historical significance, saying that she was born in the Mankheni village in MP’s Seoni district, and played a pivotal role in the Revolt of 1857. Placing her on par with Jhansi’s Rani Laxmibai, CM Dr Yadav said that after the execution of Shakar Shah and Raghunath Shah, Rani Avantibai took charge of the rebellion in the region. 

Despite facing a massive British offensive in 1858, Rani Avantibai refused to surrender and laid down her life on the battlefield, fighting valiantly till her last breath.

CM lauds Dindori for rapid strides in public health

CM Dr Yadav also underlined the state government’s efforts to honour Rani Avantibai’s legacy, including the establishment of a university in Sagar named after her. Following this, he also lauded Dindori district for making rapid strides in public health, including the screening of 50,000 women in a single day under the Anaemia-free campaign.

Additionally, Dindori also bagged the top spot in MP for HPV vaccination among girls aged 14-15. The CM also commended the ‘Pankhini Abhiyan’, under which young girls are provided free coaching for competitive exams.

The event was held in the Balpur village of Dindori, in which several public representatives, including Member of Parliament (MP) Faggan Singh Gulaste, MLA Omprakash Dhurve and other local leaders were also present.
