Ramnavami 2026: What is the significance of the festival?
Notably, Ram Navami is one of the most important festivals celebrated in Hinduism, and is observed on the ninth day (Navami) of the Shukla Paksha in the Chitra month. The festival marks the birth anniversary of Lord Ram, believed to be the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu.

According to tradition, Lord Ram was born in Ayodhya to King Dasharatha and Queen Kaushalya during the Trea Tuga, to ward off evil and kill the demon Ravana. The festival symbolises the victory of good over evil, commemorating Lord Ram’s role in defeating Ravana and establishing Dharma (righteousness) on Earth.
The Ram Navami also coincides with the final day of Chiatra Navratri, marking the conclusion of the 9-day festival. Devotees offer prayers, fasting and religious ceremonies to rejoice in celebrations.
