A video shared by Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke has raised fresh concerns over women’s safety amid the ongoing unrest at Lovely Professional University (LPU) in Phagwara, Punjab. In the video, a woman student is heard alleging that female students were asked to remain inside their rooms and that men carrying knives had entered a hostel. These claims could not be independently verified.

Student Allegedly Raises Security Concerns
According to the video shared by Dipke, the student also claimed that security guards had been removed from the area. The allegations surfaced as tensions remained high on the LPU campus following protests over an alleged sexual assault involving a female student.
Police have registered an FIR against an unidentified person and formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the sexual-assault allegation. LPU has denied that such an incident occurred and has described the claims as false and fabricated.
Dipke Questions Women’s Safety
Reacting to the video, Dipke said that a university campus should be among the safest places for women and questioned how students could feel safe inside their own hostels. His comments came after protests on Sunday escalated into clashes, property damage and a blockade of NH-44. Police said some protesters allegedly attacked police personnel and damaged or set fire to vehicles.

LPU Suspends Classes for 10 Days
Amid the unrest, LPU has suspended regular classes for 10 days from September 28 and postponed mid-term examinations until further notice. Students staying on campus have been advised to remain inside their hostels or residences and avoid unnecessary movement.

Probe Continues
Police are examining CCTV footage, forensic evidence and phone records as part of the investigation. Authorities have also said student representatives will be involved in the probe.
