A 16-year-old girl in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, was allegedly raped by her 17-year-old neighbour after he reportedly threatened to make private photos and chat screenshots public, police said. The incident took place on Saturday when the girl was on her way to a coaching class.
Girl Allegedly Intercepted on Way to Coaching
According to the police complaint, the accused allegedly followed and stalked the Class 10 student for nearly a year. On Saturday evening, he reportedly intercepted her while she was travelling to her coaching class on a motorcycle.
Police said he allegedly threatened to circulate the photos and chats if she did not comply with his demands.
Accused Allegedly Took Her to a Flat
Police said the girl alleged that the accused forced her to accompany him to a flat, where the alleged sexual assault took place. After the incident, he reportedly dropped her near her coaching centre. The girl later returned home and told her mother about what had happened.
FIR Registered Under POCSO
Following the family's complaint, police registered an FIR late Sunday night under the POCSO Act and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Police traced the accused and took him into custody within hours. Since the accused is also a minor, he was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board and sent to a reform home.
Police Investigating Digital Evidence
Police are recording statements and examining the digital material mentioned in the complaint, including the alleged photographs and chat screenshots. The allegations are being investigated, and the identity of the minor girl has not been disclosed to protect her privacy.
