Shalu Minocha, who spent 21 days in jail in connection with the murder of her father-in-law and Kanpur businessman Vineet Minocha, has been released after police found no independent evidence linking her to the alleged conspiracy. She has now accused her husband, Subrat Minocha, of falsely implicating her in the case.

I Did Nothing

Speaking to the media after walking out of jail, Shalu said she had maintained from the beginning that she was innocent.

She said she had suffered mentally and physically during her 21 days in custody and could not understand why her husband had made allegations against her. She also said her biggest concern was her six-year-old son, whom she wanted to meet immediately.

Murder Investigation Took a Dramatic Turn

Vineet Minocha was found dead inside his flat in Kanpur’s Indira Nagar area on September 5. Police initially arrested Shalu along with two men allegedly involved in the killing after one of them claimed she had arranged the murder.

The investigation later shifted toward her husband, Subrat. Police allege that he planned his father’s murder and instructed the alleged attackers to name Shalu if they were caught.

Police Submit Closure Report

Kanpur Police later submitted a closure report regarding Shalu, saying investigators had not found corroborating evidence against her. A court subsequently ordered her release on a ₹50,000 personal bond, with instructions that she appear before the court or investigating officer whenever required.

Probe Now Focuses on Husband

Police are continuing to investigate Subrat’s alleged role in the murder. Investigators are examining call records, CCTV footage, phone data and the movements of those involved to establish the sequence of events.
