Shiv Sena (UBT) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut on Tuesday alleged that the Central Bureau of Investigation’s (CBI) FIR in the death case of Disha Salian is a part of ‘political conspiracy’ aimed at tarnishing the image of the Thackeray family.
Addressing the media, Raut claimed that the probe was being weaponised to target Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray, who has been vocal in his criticism of the Maharashtra government led by Chief Minister (CM) Devendra Fadnavis.

Raut remarked, “The way the matter was taken to court, which gave an order (to hand over the case to CBI), is a conspiracy. It has specifically said to conduct a CBI probe, but do not name anyone. Yet names are being taken in the media.”
Raut cries political conspiracy against Thackerays
Raut’s remarks surfaced after the CBI registered an FIR in connection with Salian’s death. The agency’s FIR does not name any accused, thereby adhering to the directives issued by the Bombay High Court (HC) while hearing a petition filed by Salian’s father.
As per the allegations being examined by the agency, the probe will delve into the claims of gang-rape, murder and an alleged elaborate cover-up surrounding Salian’s death.
However, Raut alleged that the probe was being used in a political manner to target Aaditya Thackeray.

The leader was quoted as saying by news agency PTI, “This is a political conspiracy by Delhi to tarnish the image of the Thackeray family, which enjoys a place in the hearts of people.”
The MP further alleged that the development was aimed at diverting the attention of the public from the agitation led by Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange. He then claimed that pressure was being exerted on the Shiv Sena (UBT) to support the delimitation Bill in Parliament.
Details of the Disha Salian case
Disha Salian, who had earlier served as a manager to late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, died on June 8, 2020. Her death was said to have occurred as a result of a fall from the 12th floor of a residential building in Mumbai’s Malad area.

Salian (28) was initially the subject of an accidental death report, before the case was subsequently registered as a suicide. Her death became the talk of the town after Rajput was found dead at his residence in Mumbai’s Bandra area on June 14, 2020, barely a week later.
The proximity of the dual deaths triggered widespread speculation about a possible connection between both the cases.
