According to the announcement, the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet has approved a proposal to rename the airport in recognition of the Prime Minister’s leadership and his contribution to the country’s development.

Addressing the decision, CM Yogi Adityanath said the state government was grateful to Prime Minister Modi for the Noida International Airport project, describing it as a significant addition to Uttar Pradesh’s infrastructure.

Jewar Airport to Strengthen Delhi-NCR Connectivity

Located in Jewar, in Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Buddha Nagar district, Noida International Airport is a major infrastructure project designed to improve air connectivity across the National Capital Region (NCR).

The airport is expected to complement Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport by providing an additional aviation hub for passengers travelling to and from the region. Its development is also expected to support tourism, business activity, logistics and employment opportunities in western Uttar Pradesh.

The airport was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 28, 2026, marking a significant milestone in the state’s aviation infrastructure.

A Major Infrastructure Decision for Uttar Pradesh

The proposed renaming places the airport at the centre of a significant political and infrastructure announcement. With the Cabinet approving the proposal, the next steps will involve the applicable formal procedures for implementing the new name.

The project is expected to play an important role in strengthening regional connectivity and supporting Uttar Pradesh’s long-term economic development.
