Police Identify Victim as Gurugram-Based Software Engineer

A 28-year-old software engineer, identified as Sambhav Jain, died by suicide after jumping from the balcony of an apartment in the Supernova Spira building in Sector 94, Noida, on October 3. The incident took place under the jurisdiction of Sector 126 Police Station.

According to police, Jain was a resident of IMT Manesar in Gurugram, Haryana, and worked for a private company in Gurugram. He had travelled to Noida alone and booked an Airbnb apartment for a one-day stay. Police said he checked into the apartment at around 3 pm on Friday, a day before the incident.

AC Workers Tried to Stop Him

An AC repair team working in a nearby apartment reportedly noticed Jain near the balcony railing and attempted to persuade him to step back. According to reports, Jain told the workers that he was depressed shortly before the incident.

Noida Police immediately reached the spot after receiving information and began an investigation. The forensic science team inspected the location and collected evidence, while CCTV footage from the building and surrounding areas is being examined.

Financial and Personal Distress Under Probe

Police are also examining possible financial and personal factors behind the incident. According to an October 4 report, investigators found a conversation between Jain and his father relating to financial difficulties. Jain had reportedly told his father that he would repay his debts.

Further reports have indicated that Jain was also dealing with personal difficulties, including a recent divorce and concerns related to his child’s health. Police are examining these circumstances as part of the investigation and have not announced a final conclusion regarding the exact reason for his death.

Investigation Continues

Police said Jain’s family has been informed. Inquest proceedings have been completed and the postmortem process is underway. Officials are reviewing CCTV footage, digital evidence and statements from people present near the building to establish the sequence of events.

The investigation remains ongoing, and further details are expected as police examine the evidence and speak to the family.
