The death of a worker on the set of the upcoming film Love & War has triggered strong reactions from the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA), with the organisation alleging serious lapses in safety measures during the shoot.

The worker, whose identity has not yet been officially disclosed, reportedly died while working on the film’s set. He is survived by his wife and two daughters. The incident has once again brought the spotlight on safety standards and working conditions in the Indian film industry.

AICWA President Suresh Shyamlal Gupta expressed grief over the worker’s death and accused the makers of failing to ensure adequate safety arrangements at the shooting location.

AICWA Levels Allegations Against Filmmaker

Following the incident, Gupta levelled serious allegations against filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, claiming that the tragedy occurred due to the absence of proper safety protocols on the set. According to AICWA, film production houses must take responsibility for providing a safe working environment for all crew members, including technicians, labourers and support staff who work behind the scenes.

The organisation stated that accidents on film sets are preventable if production teams strictly follow established safety guidelines and regularly inspect equipment and working conditions.

Demand for Accountability and Compensation

AICWA has reportedly demanded accountability from those responsible for the incident and called for adequate compensation and support for the deceased worker’s family. The association stressed that the worker’s wife and two daughters should receive financial assistance to help them cope with the loss of their primary breadwinner.

Industry bodies and worker unions have also reiterated the need for stronger safety regulations and stricter enforcement of existing guidelines on film sets across the country.

Spotlight on Working Conditions in Film Industry

The incident has reignited concerns about the working conditions of daily wage workers and technicians employed in film productions, many of whom work long hours in physically demanding environments. Experts have often highlighted the need for comprehensive safety audits, emergency response systems and insurance coverage for workers involved in large-scale productions.

Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the worker’s death to determine the exact cause of the incident and whether any negligence was involved. Meanwhile, there has been no official response from filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali or the makers of Love & War regarding the allegations made by AICWA.

Further details are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
