Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday alleged that Meta had restricted his social media account in India without providing any explanation, prompting him to publicly seek clarification from the technology giant.
The former Chief Minister (CM) of Delhi tagged Meta and Meta India in a post on his official ‘X’ handle, claiming that his account had allegedly been made inaccessible to users in the country. He questioned the basis for the purported restriction and criticised the company's handling of the matter.

"Why have you restricted my account? Verbal enquiries at your India office revealed that my account has been restricted in India and is unavailable in India. Why? No one in your office is giving any reasons. No one is suggesting how restrictions can be removed," his post read.
AAP chief claims attempts to contact Meta went unanswered
Kejriwal alleged that despite making repeated efforts to contact the company, he had not received any meaningful explanation regarding the reported restriction.
According to him, enquiries made with Meta's India office failed to clarify why the account had allegedly been restricted or what steps could be taken to restore normal access.
He further claimed that emails sent to the company generated only routine acknowledgements without any substantive response. "That's pretty bad service," the AAP leader remarked, expressing dissatisfaction with what he described as the company's lack of communication.
Kejriwal takes a dig at PM Modi
During this, the AAP chief also used the opportunity to take a jibe at Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi, alleging that Meta was yielding to political pressure. "Don't bow down to our Prime Minister so much. Else he will allow you to run only his own account in India," Kejriwal wrote in his post.
The remarks add a political dimension to the controversy, with the AAP leader implying that the alleged restriction on his account was linked to government influence. However, he did not provide any evidence to substantiate the claim.

Meta yet to respond
Until the report was being filed, Meta did not respond publicly to Kejriwal's allegations or issued any statement confirming or denying that his account had been restricted in India.
The company has also not explained whether any action had been taken against the account or whether any technical issue may have affected its accessibility.
