Agriculture Cabinet meeting concludes in Barwani; Govt announces Rs 27k cr bonanza for farmers

Barwani cabinet meeting: Madhya Pradesh government’s first-ever Agriculture Cabinet meeting, spearheaded by Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav concluded in Barwani’s Shikardham on Monday, in which, the government released a whopping Rs 27,746 crore package to ramp up the agrarian economy.

Bhilatdev lecture centre inaugurated

CM Dr Yadav, who had arrived in the district via helipad, had offered prayers at the 800-year-old Bhilatdev temple. Before his visit, the political and administrative activity picked pace. In his prayers, the Chief Minister wished for the well-being of the farmers of MP and the state’s prosperity. 

CM Dr Yadav inaugurated the Bhilatdev Lecture Centre, constructed at a cost of Rs 80 lakh within the temple premises. As per officials, the facility has been laid by the Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development corporation, with the aim to promote cultural and educational activities in the region.

Key decisions taken at Agriculture Cabinet meeting

After offering prayers at the temple, CM Dr Yadav headed towards the temporary facility where the Agriculture Cabinet meeting began. Several key decisions were taken in the meeting, including a ₹600 per quintal bonus on urad, inclusion of mustard under the Bhavantar Scheme, a multi-thousand crore allocation for micro-irrigation, and measures to promote natural farming, the Edible Oil Mission and procurement of pulses.

In the meeting, the Cabinet also gave the nod to the construction of a new modern agriculture produce market in Barwani and the development of Khetia Mandi as a model market. While reviewing the fisheries sector, the government indicated plans to roll out a new policy, offering subsidies for cold chain infrastructure, feed plants and marketing facilities. 

CM, delegation leaves for Bhagoria Haat

After the Cabinet meeting concluded, CM Dr Yadav and his delegation left for the renowned Bhagoria Haat held in Julwania. In the programme, the Chief Minister shall interact with tribal communities and will participate in cultural events.
