Man bludgeons teen to death in Damoh village, flays flesh, drinks blood from corpse, held; post-murder horror sparks fury

MP crime: A gruesome incident transpired in the Samna village of MP’s Damoh district on Thursday noon, when a man allegedly bludgeoned a minor boy to death, flayed and consumed flesh from his head and drank his blood, the police said. The incident sent shockwaves across the village and left the villagers traumatised. After the police received an alert, they rushed to the scene, cordoned off the area, and escorted the accused to the police station while the villagers tried inflicting harm on the accused in a fit of rage, they added.

Teen had arrived in village for Bhaidooj

According to police, the victim, named Bharat Vishwarkarma (16) was a native of Arthkheda village falling under the jurisdiction of Imaliya outpost. He had arrived in Samna village to pay a visit to his sister Tamanna on the occasion of Bhaidooj.

After indulging in the festivities, Bharat was on his way back home on a bike, when a man named Gudda Patel allegedly intercepted him.

As per preliminary reports, Patel struck Bharat on his head with an iron rod, owing to which the latter collapsed. Patel then fetched a hammer and assaulted the teenager repeatedly, resulting in his immediate death.

Accused engages in cannibalistic act after boy’s death

Once the accused was assured that the boy had died, he resorted to grotesque behaviour. He flayed flesh from the victim’s head and began consuming it. He also extracted blood from the victim’s head and drank it. The villagers present at the scene were left stunned and traumatised at the harrowing sight.

As the word regarding the gruesome incident spread among the villagers, they turned furious. Some villagers attempted to tame the accused, but he fled to a nearby field and hid. The police were notified about the incident, who arrived in time and cordoned off the area. However, tensions intensified as the enraged villagers began pelting stones at the accused.

Meanwhile, the accused retaliated by throwing stones at both villagers and the cops present at the scene. After a prolonged effort, the cops managed to lay hands on him and escorted him to the police station, while shielding him from the infuriated villagers. The police said they have launched a probe into the motive behind the crime.
