‘No shortage of funds for employment and development’

Speaking to the media after the meeting, CM Dr Yadav said he had visited Pandhurna to review the situation on the ground. He noted that Pandhurna is Madhya Pradesh’s 55th district and said the state government had continued to provide adequate funds for development since the district was announced in 2023.

The Chief Minister said the government had also approved district offices and the necessary posts to strengthen the administrative set-up.

Against the backdrop of low rainfall, CM Dr Yadav said the district collector and commissioner had been instructed to prepare the necessary assessment and extend every possible assistance. He stressed that there was no shortage of funds in the government’s coffers for employment generation and development.

The directions assume significance as the administration assesses the possible impact of inadequate rainfall on water availability and agricultural activities. The government has sought a detailed assessment to determine the assistance required in the affected areas.

Focus on dairy, food processing and cooperative societies

Looking ahead, CM Dr Yadav said the government would promote employment-oriented courses as well as the food industry, milk processing and cooperative dairy societies.

According to the Chief Minister, these initiatives are intended to help increase farmers’ incomes while encouraging animal husbandry as an additional source of livelihood.

CM Dr Yadav said Madhya Pradesh currently ranks third in the country in milk production. He added that the state government’s objective was to make Madhya Pradesh the country’s number-one milk-producing state.

The Chief Minister’s visit combined an immediate review of the low-rainfall situation with a broader focus on employment and development. While officials were directed to assess the impact of inadequate rainfall and plan necessary assistance, the government also reiterated its emphasis on strengthening sectors such as dairy, food processing and cooperative farming to expand livelihood opportunities for farmers and rural communities.
