Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav on Monday said Anuppur is making an important contribution to the state’s efforts to emerge as a ‘Millet State’, while underlining the government’s focus on irrigation, modern farming techniques and higher agricultural productivity.

CM Dr Yadav made the remarks while virtually interacting with farmers from Anuppur during the Balram Krishi Mahotsav, organised in the district under the ‘Kisan Kalyan Varsh-2026’ initiative. The Chief Minister addressed the programme from his residence in Bhopal.

Focus on irrigation, modern farming

CM Dr Yadav said Anuppur is blessed with considerable water resources and that irrigation facilities in the district are being strengthened through the Kevai Lift Irrigation Project.

He said the state government aims to expand irrigation capacity to 100 lakh hectares, while simultaneously increasing agricultural production and farmers’ incomes through technology and innovation.

The Chief Minister also said farmers in the state would be provided with 10 hours of electricity during the daytime after some time. He called for wider dissemination of information about farmer-friendly government schemes as part of the ongoing Seva-Sankalp Abhiyan, launched to mark Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi’s birthday.

CM Dr Yadav reiterated that the state government remains committed to the welfare of farmers, women, youth and economically weaker sections.

Farmers urged to register for paddy and millets procurement

The Chief Minister said registration for the procurement of paddy and Shri Anna, including crops such as jowar and bajra, had begun in the state. He urged farmers to complete their registration within the stipulated time to avail themselves of the procurement benefits.

According to the Chief Minister, Anuppur farmers are producing paddy, wheat, pulses and oilseeds while also embracing new crops and modern agricultural practices. Farmers in the district have also taken up mushroom and strawberry cultivation, he said.

CM Dr Yadav encouraged farmers to diversify into activities such as animal husbandry and dairy production and adopt new technologies and innovative practices. He said the future of agriculture was promising and urged farmers to encourage their children to explore opportunities in agriculture-related industries.

Rural areas to benefit from transport, free registration

CM Dr Yadav said the recently launched Mukhyamantri Sugam Parivahan Seva Yojana would benefit residents of remote villages by improving transport connectivity.

He also highlighted the state government’s initiative to provide free registration facilities for rural residents. The government, he said, was making every possible effort to improve educational opportunities for children and create employment opportunities for young people.
