Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav on Friday underscored the importance of technical education and skill development, describing them as the most powerful tools for empowering India’s youth and building a self-reliant nation.
Addressing trainee students during a visit to the Government Tribal Women’s Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Chhindwara, the Chief Minister encouraged young women to pursue technical excellence while remaining connected to their agricultural roots.

Interacting with trainees during his tour of the institute, CM Dr Yadav reviewed the training facilities and visited several laboratories. He held detailed discussions with students about their vocational training, future career aspirations and the benefits they were receiving under various government welfare schemes.

During his visit to the Mechanical Laboratory, the Chief Minister learnt about the CRDI four-stroke diesel engine and appreciated the women trainees receiving hands-on training on lathe machines, highlighting the growing participation of women in technical trades.
Fitter trade trainee Sushma Uikey informed the Chief Minister that her parents were engaged in farming and that she aspired to build a successful career through technical education.
Responding to her, CM Dr Yadav said, “Maintain this confidence. Along with acquiring technical skills, remain connected to agriculture as well.”
Another trainee, Radha Udke, shared that she intended to apply the technical knowledge gained during her training to farming and hoped to establish her own technician, machinery and hardware workshop in the future.

The Chief Minister commended her determination and wished her success in achieving her entrepreneurial ambitions.
‘Your responsibility extends beyond personal success’
CM Dr Yadav then interacted with students regarding the benefits they had received under government initiatives aimed at promoting skill development and employment.
Trainee Meena Karveti confidently explained the benefits of the Mukhyamantri Seekho-Kamao Yojana and the Prime Minister Vishwakarma Scheme. She said she had acquired practical skills in bookbinding, fan repair, electrical wiring and assembling machine components, while strictly adhering to prescribed safety standards.
Impressed by the enthusiasm and commitment displayed by the trainees, the Chief Minister said their responsibility extended beyond improving their own lives.
“Your knowledge and technical skills should also contribute to bringing positive change to society and improving the lives of others,” he told the students.
Innovation, sustainability and environmental awareness highlighted
During the visit, trainees from the fitter trade presented the Chief Minister with a creatively designed guitar and a model cannon made from scrap materials under the ‘Waste to Art’ concept.
CM Dr Yadav praised the innovative creations, describing them as excellent examples of how creativity and technical expertise can be combined to showcase the talent of young people.

The students also presented the Chief Minister with the institute’s admission prospectus, following which he posed for a group photograph with the trainees.
Concluding his visit, CM Dr Yadav planted a mulberry (shahtoot) sapling in the institute campus, conveying a message of environmental conservation and encouraging young people to contribute towards a greener and more sustainable future.
