Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav on Saturday outlined the state’s development roadmap at the World Leaders Forum 2026 in New Delhi, highlighting investment, industrial expansion, energy, infrastructure and social development as key pillars of the government’s growth strategy.

Speaking at the development-focused event, CM Dr Yadav said Madhya Pradesh had emerged as an attractive investment destination, with investment proposals worth around ₹10 lakh crore reaching the ground over the past year. He said several industrial units had already commenced operations across the state.

Regional Industry Conclave model wins praise

CM Dr Yadav said Madhya Pradesh, traditionally identified as an agriculture-based state, had recognised its natural strengths and worked to create an investor-friendly ecosystem.

The state government first organised Regional Industry Conclaves at divisional and district levels before hosting the Global Investors Summit in Bhopal. According to the Chief Minister, the model received considerable appreciation and has since been adopted by other states.

He said the government had scrapped unnecessary laws and introduced transparent policies to promote industry, trade and investment. Madhya Pradesh, he added, has an adequate land bank along with reliable electricity and water availability for industrial development.

The government has also implemented the Jan Vishwas Act and abolished more than 900 unnecessary laws and over 2,700 redundant circulars, CM Dr Yadav said. These measures, he added, have helped strengthen the state’s ease-of-doing-business environment.

Industrial clusters across the state

CM Dr Yadav said the government was developing industrial clusters based on the strengths of different regions.

In the Malwa belt, garment industries are being promoted based on cotton production, while mining-rich areas such as Singrauli and Sidhi are being developed around coal-based thermal power. A TMT manufacturing plant in Shahdol, he said, was completed within about 18 months.

An industrial park is also being developed at Babai-Mohasa in Narmadapuram for the energy sector. Efforts are underway to establish a telecom manufacturing zone in Gwalior, while a defence corridor is being developed near the Jhansi border.

The Chief Minister said an Adani Industries unit involving an investment of ₹4,000 crore had recently had its foundation stone laid.

Green Energy to rise to 50%

The state’s top political leader went on to say that Madhya Pradesh currently has an energy capacity of 31 GW, with green energy accounting for around 30%. The government aims to increase the share to 50 per cent by promoting pumped storage, solar and wind energy.

He added that the state was also a major mining hub and the only state where diamonds are found. Five new airports have been completed, while MoUs have been signed for five more.

According to CM Dr Yadav, 37 of Madhya Pradesh’s 55 districts are now contributing to exports, with the state recording exports worth ₹88,000 crore.

₹22.5 Lakh per capita income target by 2047

Highlighting the state’s long-term vision, CM Dr Yadav said Madhya Pradesh’s per capita income had risen to more than ₹1.67 lakh over the past two years. The government has set a target of taking it to ₹22.5 lakh by 2047.

He also highlighted the expansion of healthcare and higher education. Madhya Pradesh had only five medical colleges up to 2002-03, he said, while the number has now risen to 39, including 15 new government medical colleges established during his tenure.

The state currently has 73 universities, including 52 private institutions, with three government universities launched in the past two years.

CM Dr Yadav also called for greater cooperation among states, citing the Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal project with Rajasthan and the Ken-Betwa river-link project with Uttar Pradesh as examples of inter-state collaboration.

He said ensuring that every region benefits from industrialisation and development had been a major challenge, but maintained that the state government had made significant progress towards achieving that goal.
