The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav, on Tuesday approved proposals worth more than Rs 42,490 crore, paving the way for a major push towards infrastructure, education, irrigation, transport and public welfare across the state.
The decisions were taken at a Cabinet meeting held at the Mantralaya on September 15, with the government focusing on strengthening infrastructure and accelerating development and welfare initiatives.

Rs 36,006 crore approved for education
The Cabinet approved Rs 36,006.22 crore for the continued implementation of the Centre-sponsored Samagra Shiksha scheme from financial year 2026-27 to 2030-31.
The scheme aims to improve the quality of education and learning outcomes, reduce social and gender disparities in school education, ensure equity and inclusion at all levels, and promote vocational education alongside regular schooling.
It also supports implementation of the Right to Education Act, 2009, while strengthening SCERT, State Education Institutes and District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs) as nodal institutions for teacher training.
The scheme covers students aged between four and 18 years, from pre-primary level through Class 12.
Transport sector gets Rs 1,166 crore
To ensure the continued operation of transport-related schemes between April 1, 2026 and March 31, 2031, the Cabinet approved Rs 1,166.60 crore.
Of this, Rs 377.41 crore has been earmarked for enforcement squads and check-points, while Rs 361.89 crore will be spent on district establishments. Another Rs 120.10 crore has been approved for the department headquarters and Rs 10.39 crore for the State Transport Appellate Tribunal.

The Smart Card scheme will receive Rs 245.55 crore, while Rs 30 crore has been sanctioned for construction of new departmental office buildings and around Rs 5.50 crore for maintenance of existing assets.
The Cabinet also approved provisions for road safety, women's security, rural transport and public welfare. This includes Rs 12 crore for setting up driving training centres, Rs 2.50 crore for implementation of the Rural Transport Policy and Rs 1.25 crore for the ‘Good Samaritan Award’.
Horticulture schemes to continue
Eight state-funded schemes of the Horticulture and Food Processing Department will continue for five years, with a total financial allocation of Rs 491 crore.
Fruit plantation and expansion of spice cultivation will receive Rs 100 crore each, while Rs 85 crore has been allocated for protected cultivation. Crop insurance and development of food-processing industries will receive Rs 53 crore each.
Another Rs 50 crore has been sanctioned for integrated cold-chain infrastructure, while Rs 25 crore each will support farmer training and maintenance of departmental assets.
Major irrigation projects approved
The Cabinet approved Rs 11.49 crore for the continuation of the Chanderi Micro Irrigation Project in Ashoknagar from 2026-27 to 2030-31. The project aims to provide irrigation facilities to 28,000 hectares through a micro-irrigation system.
It also sanctioned Rs 749.62 crore for the Gaund Major Irrigation Project in Singrauli, which is expected to develop irrigation capacity over 34,500 hectares through a dam and micro-irrigation system.

For Ujjain's Chitawad Major Irrigation Project, Rs 1,846.05 crore was approved. The project, located on the Shipra River near Mahidpur, aims to provide irrigation to 65,000 hectares through stored water.
New posts and welfare decisions
The Cabinet approved 21 posts for newly formed districts Maihar, Mauganj and Pandhurna, with seven posts allocated to each district's mining branch.
It also sanctioned 36 regular posts for four upgraded high schools in Anuppur and Shahdol districts, including four principals, 24 secondary teachers, four primary teachers and four Assistant Grade-3 posts.
The Cabinet ratified the Chief Minister's August 20 order providing August 2026 financial assistance under the Ladli Behna Yojana along with an additional Rs 250 special assistance for Raksha Bandhan.
It further approved an interest-free loan of Rs 2,220.62 crore to MARKFED to ensure repayment of the remaining foodgrain credit-limit loan for the 2024-25 Rabi marketing year by September 30, 2026.
