Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav has praised the nationwide ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat’ campaign, saying the initiative aimed at keeping young people away from substance abuse is rapidly gaining momentum across the country.

CM Dr Yadav lauded the campaign on social media platform X, saying collective participation was helping it progress at a fast pace across India. Launched nationwide on August 2, the campaign will continue for 100 weeks, encouraging citizens, particularly young people, to stay away from drugs and make a firm commitment towards a substance-free life.

As part of the initiative, special social service and public awareness activities are being organised every Sunday to spread awareness about the dangers of substance abuse and encourage greater community participation.

PM Modi urges youngsters to join the campaign

The campaign featured prominently in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s popular radio programme ‘Mann Ki Baat’, during its 137th episode broadcast on Sunday. Modi appealed to young people across the country to actively participate in the initiative and use their creativity to give it greater momentum.

The Prime Minister encouraged youngsters to create engaging campaign content suited to the interests of the current generation, including games, slogans, jingles, songs, creative material and graphics.

He said the campaign was moving ahead rapidly across the country with a clear objective; a drug-free youth and a drug-free India.

‘India has no shortage of talented content creators’

PM Modi said a large number of people, particularly youngsters, were already joining the campaign. He described the initiative as a collective resolve aimed at protecting the health, happiness and bright future of India’s youth.

Highlighting the wider impact of drug addiction, the Prime Minister said substance abuse does not affect only the individual caught in its grip. Its consequences are also borne by families and society at large.

He praised those working to spread awareness about drugs and helping people struggling with addiction.

PM Modi also challenged young Indians to use their creative talents for the cause. He asked whether they could come up with powerful slogans for a drug-free India or whether young musicians could create songs carrying a message of a drug-free life.

He further encouraged students and theatre groups to write emotionally compelling short plays highlighting the dangers of drugs while also showing pathways to recovery.

“There is no shortage of excellent content creators in our country,” Modi said, urging them to put their skills to use for the campaign.

Youth urged to become agents of social change

The Prime Minister called on young people to create awareness content in different Indian languages so that the message could reach wider sections of society.

He also urged participants to share their creative efforts on social media using the campaign hashtag, noting that creative initiatives can sometimes have a greater impact than formal campaigns.

Calling for a collective effort to protect India’s youth from substance abuse, Modi urged citizens to play their part in building a drug-free society and encouraged young people to share their contributions using #NashaMuktYuva.
