The melodious strains of the harmonica filled the Kushabhau Thakre Auditorium in Madhya Pradesh’s capital Bhopal on Friday, captivating audiences during the 13th edition of the Indian Harmonica Festival 2026.
From the soulful Vaishnav Jan To and Kehta Hai Dil to the popular Baar Baar Dekho tune, the harmonica performances transported listeners into a world of music. The audience remained engrossed in the enchanting melodies as acclaimed artists Anupam Paul and 17-year-old harmonica virtuoso Siddhi Soni delivered captivating performances.

State Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav inaugurated the festival by lighting the ceremonial lamp, marking the beginning of the 13th edition of the musical gathering.
Music as a living tradition of Indian culture
Addressing the gathering, CM Dr Yadav welcomed the music practitioners who had assembled in Bhopal and praised their dedication to the art.
He said music remains a living tradition of Indian culture and described the commitment of the participating artists as remarkable. According to the Chief Minister, the world of art plays an important role in realising Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi’s vision of “Ek Bharat – Shreshtha Bharat”.
CM Dr Yadav also highlighted the recognition being given to eminent practitioners of art and music through the Padma Awards under the Modi government. He said such recognition honours the years of dedication and practice invested by artists in their respective fields.
The festival brought together harmonica players from different parts of the country, offering audiences an opportunity to experience the versatility and appeal of the mouth organ.
‘A kumbh of music practitioners’
After the programme, CM Dr Yadav told the media that he was pleased to welcome harmonica artists from across India to Madhya Pradesh for the national gathering organised by the Harmonica Association in Bhopal.

Describing the event as more than just a programme, the Chief Minister said it was a gathering of dedicated practitioners of music. He expressed confidence that the conference would provide artists from across the country with a common platform while helping take the melodious art form of harmonica playing to greater heights.
CM Dr Yadav further said that music and the arts are integral parts of India’s rich cultural heritage. He added that efforts are being made under PM Modi’s leadership to promote art, music and culture while providing artists with recognition and appropriate platforms.
With performers ranging from established artists to young talents such as Siddhi Soni, the festival showcased the enduring appeal of the harmonica and its place within India’s diverse musical landscape. The gathering also underscored the role of music festivals in bringing practitioners and audiences together to celebrate the country’s cultural traditions.
