Iran Opens Hormuz: Indian ships will be able to pass through the Strait of Hormuz without any fear, alongwith four other countries apart from us and permission for free movement has been given by Iran.
Amid the tensions, Growing in West Asia, here’s some relief for India. Iran has allowed commercial vessels from some “friendly countries,” including India, to pass through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian Foreign Ministers Statement
According to Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, in addition to India, China, Russia, Iraq, and Pakistan have also been granted transit permission through this crucial sea route. This statement comes at a time when Iran has tightened partial control over the waterway.
Global market turmoil – The Strait of Hormuz, which lies between the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, is a major route for about 20% of the world’s oil and LNG supplies. Escalating tensions over the Strait have led to a sharp surge in global oil and gas prices.
However, Iran has clarified that ships from its rival countries and their allies will not be allowed to pass through this route. Iran said the region is in a state of war and it is not possible to allow ships from “enemy countries.

Experts believe that if the disruption in the Strait of Hormuz continues, it could impact the fuel and fertilizer security of many countries, including India.
