IPL 2026 KKR vs SRH: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Thursday became the first side in IPL 2026 to defend a total, trouncing Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 65 runs in a high-scoring encounter. After registering a daunting 226/8, the highest total of the season so far, SRH overcame a spirited chase to secure their first points of the campaign.

Abhishek and Head set the tone

KKR fight back before Klaasen’s late surge

KKR clawed their way back through Blessing Muzarabani, who returned figures of 4/41, dismissing key batters in the middle overs. However, Heinrich Klaasen steadied the innings with a composed 52 off 35 deliveries. Alongside Nitish Kumar Reddy, he ensured SRH rebuilt their momentum after a brief slowdown, before accelerating in death overs. A late flourish saw SRH amass 51 runs in the final four overs, pushing the team to a formidable 226/8.

KKR collapse as Raghuvanshi’s efforts go down the drain

KKR, in a bid to chase 226, began aggressively, with Finn Allen launching an early assault. However, regular wickets dented the team’s momentum. Young batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi led the fightback with a brisk 52 off 27 balls, steering KKR to 110/3 in ten overs, but his run-out proved to be the turning point.

Despite brief resistance from Rinku Singh, the chase unravelled quickly thereafter. Eventually, KKR were bowled out for 161 in just 16 overs.
