The safety of females in India was besmirched yet again on Saturday, as the police in Haryana’s Faridabad arrested three youths on charges of raping two minor girls, officials said. As per the complaint, both the survivors, aged 13 and 17 respectively, were allegedly followed to an abandoned building, where they were threatened and violated. Both the minors were rendered frightened and distressed after the incident, owing to which they did not disclose the incident to their families.

Girls keep incident under the wraps for almost a month
As per reports, the incident unfolded on August 24 this year, when the 13-year-old girl had gone to meet her 16-year-old friend after attending her tuition class. The duo was allegedly followed by a group of youths who took them towards a dilapidated building. The accused allegedly threatened the duo and then assaulted them sexually.
Later, the 13-year-old survivor told the cops that she too, was raped during the incident.
Post-assault, the kin of both the girls noticed a tremendous change in their behaviour. The 13-year-old girl’s mother became concerned about her daughter’s demeanour and tried to counsel her.
After she reassured her daughter, the latter narrated her ordeal to her. The family then lodged a police complaint.
3 accused held

Acting upon the complaint, the cops registered an FIR at the city’s BPTP police station and mounted a probe. BPTP police station house officer (SHO) Pradeep said the police had laid hands on three accused in connection with the incident. The cops, as per him, are also examining the alleged involvement of other accused and efforts are on to trace, as well as apprehend them.
Police said further action would be taken on the basis of the statements recorded and other facts emerging during the probe.
