TVK Aadhav Arjuna remarks: Political tensions flared in poll-bound Tamil Nadu on Sunday after Aadhav Arjuna, a senior leader of Vijay-led Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), alleged that an upcoming film is being orchestrated to malign Vijay’s reputation. He warned that such a project will not last even a day in the theatres.

Arjuna, while addressing the media-persons on Saturday, claimed that both the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) were working behind the scenes to support the alleged film. He termed the move a politically motivated attempt to tarnish Vijay’s image ahead of the Assembly elections.

Arjuna raised questions over the intent behind such a project, asking who had authorised the filmmakers to produce content targeting a political leader. Referring to Vijay’s upcoming film, Jananayagan, he further raised concerns over alleged inconsistencies in censorship and permissions related to its release.
He remarked, “If Vijay’s own film is facing hurdles, how can a politically motivated film be cleared for release?” He admitted he had not verified the film’s content personally, but maintained that credible information pointed towards political involvement.
Furthermore, he shed light on Vijay’s popularity, noting that teasers of his film often amass between 100 to 150 million views, and reflected strong public support. “Any film made against him will fail to sustain even half a day,” he asserted.

Meanwhile, Vijay has come under fresh scrutiny, following discrepancies in his election affidavits. As per documents, his nomination filed from Perambur declared no pending criminal cases against him, whereas another affidavit from Tiruchirappalli (East) listed two cases as pending. Legal experts weighed in, suggesting that filing a revised affidavit may be the only corrective measure to eradicate the inconsistency, raising concerns over compliance with disclosure norms ahead of the crucial polls.
