MP Bank heist: Madhya Pradesh Police have launched a massive multi-state manhunt soon after a band of armed robbers made away with cash and gold worth Rs 15 crore on Friday. According to police, two suspects have been detained in connection with the case from Bihar, and the cops suspect the involvement of a gang originating from there.

Notably, the daring mid-day light heist took place in the Waidhan town of MP’s Singrauli on Friday, when five armed men stormed the bank and made away with cash, as well as pledged gold worth crores of rupees at gunpoint. MP’s Director General of Police (DGP), Kailash Makwana has announced a reward of Rs 50,000 for credible information leading to the arrest of the accused.

One suspect held from Bihar’s Aurangabad


Sources said the police laid hands on one of the suspects from Bihar’s Aurangabad, while another was collared near Bihar’s capital, Patna. The investigating police personnel believe the gang may be linked to criminal networks in Bihar, as similar bank heist cases have taken place earlier in Aurangabad too. 

MP police teams are coordinating with their counterparts based in UP, Bihar and Chhattisgarh to piece together the gang’s movement and unearth their network. 

MP Bank heist: Culprits committed robbery within 15 minutes


The robbery transpired at around 12:50 PM on Friday when five unidentified men, armed with country-made pistols, stormed the bank premises. One of them had covered his face with a helmet. They fired a gunshot in the air to create panic, held staff and customers hostage and looted Rs 20 lakh in cash, along with 10 kilograms of gold pledged by the customers in exchange of loans. 

The accused also attacked the branch manager with a pistol’s butt, as he refused to reveal the locker details to them.

CCTV footage being scanned for clues


Soon after the incident, DGP Makwana rushed to the district and began supervising the probe on the ground. Multiple police teams have been constituted, and CCTV footage from the bank, as well as the surrounding areas is being scanned to identify the accused.
