The probe into the alleged murder of Pune-based realtor Ketan Aggarwal saw a major development on Friday, as the police claimed that his fiancee Siya Goyal’s lover, Chetan Chaudhary, allegedly instigated her to eliminate Aggarwal during a visit to Lohagad Fort.

According to investigating police personnel, the development surfaced after both the accused were subjected to intense interrogation. A police official said the interrogation revealed Chaudhary had allegedly persuaded Goyal to execute the murder plan at the popular hill fort in Pune.

The official further added that Goyal’s brother had also been questioned as part of the ongoing probe. In a parallel development, the Maharashtra Government has accepted the Aggarwal family’s demand for a fast-track trial and has given the nod to appoint senior advocate Ujjwal Nikam as the special public prosecutor in the case. Notably, Nikam had played a pivotal role in bringing the 26/11 terrorist Ajmal Amir Kasab to justice, resulting in his hanging till death.

Cops learn sequence of events

Siya Goyal (25) and Chetan Chaudhary (22), who were allegedly in a relationship, have been accused of conspiring to murder Ketan Aggarwal (25). Investigators claim that Ketan was pushed off a cliff at Lohagad Fort on June 18, 2026, resulting in his death.

The police probe revealed that Goyal was reluctant to get hitched to Aggarwal and had conveyed her reluctance both to him, as well as her family. However, despite expressing her reservations, the marriage plans failed to halt.

Earlier, an official from the Pune Rural Police involved in probing the case said that upon reaching the edge of the cliff, Goyal allegedly gave Chaudhary a pre-arranged signal, following which he pushed the unsuspecting marriage-bound man (Ketan) into the gorge.

Goyal’s parents present contrasting narratives

Meanwhile, Siya’s mother claimed that her daughter had been reluctant to accompany Ketan to Lohagad Fort on June 18. She said Ketan and his mother persuaded Siya during a video call a day before the incident to join the outing despite her reluctance.

She alleged that Siya had expressed a desire to rest as a family function had been lined up for the following day, but eventually agreed after repeated requests.

Her father Pravin Goyal also dismissed reports claiming that the family had planned an extravagant wedding involving a palace booking and a chartered aircraft. He said the wedding was indeed scheduled to be held in Udaipur, where 70 hotel rooms had been booked at the cost of Rs 81,000 per couple per day.

However, he maintained that the family’s total expenditure on the wedding was below Rs 3 crore.

CM assures Aggarwal family of quick justice

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister (CM) Devendra Fadnavis met Ketan’s father in Pune on Friday and assured him that the state government would pursue the strictest possible punishment against the ones found guilty. Addressing the media, CM Fadnavis termed the incident ‘reflective of a disturbing social trend,’ and urged the society to examine why educated young people from respectable families develop nefarious intentions and a desire for revenge.
