A 71-year-old woman and her 79-year-old husband were injured after an SUV allegedly hit them from behind near Arya Samaj Mandir in Delhi’s Kirti Nagar on October 2. The couple was reportedly returning home after their morning walk when the incident took place.

CCTV Captures the Collision
CCTV footage being examined by police shows the couple walking along the road when a Hyundai Creta suddenly turns towards them and hits them. The impact threw the elderly man onto the bonnet before he fell onto the road, while his wife was also knocked down.

Driver Leaves the Spot
According to police, the driver initially stopped and stepped out of the vehicle. She reportedly checked on the injured man before leaving the location in the SUV. Passers-by and nearby residents then rushed to help the couple.
Woman Driver Arrested
Delhi Police arrested the driver, identified as 49-year-old Navleen Kaur, and impounded the SUV. A case was registered at Kirti Nagar Police Station under Sections 281 and 125(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, relating to rash driving and causing injury or endangering another person's safety.
Couple Recovering in Hospital
The injured couple, identified as Kusum Tagra and Dayanand Tagra, was admitted to Kalra Hospital in Kirti Nagar. Police said Dayanand suffered a head injury, while Kusum sustained injuries to the rear portion of her body.
Both are undergoing treatment and are reported to be recovering. Their children, who live in the United States, have been informed. Police are examining CCTV footage and other evidence to establish the exact sequence of events and circumstances surrounding the crash.
