Saurav Das has raised concerns over the alleged treatment of women protesters during ongoing demonstrations in Delhi, warning police personnel against any form of harassment. In a statement, Das accused some Delhi Police personnel of mistreating women protesters and said such conduct would not be tolerated.

Das also made counter-allegations against female police officers, claiming that some were recording videos portraying male protesters as having harassed them. He denied that male protesters from his side had engaged in such behaviour and described the allegations against them as an attempt to “play the victim card.”

Concerns Over Police Conduct

In his statement, Das said he was warning what he described as “brute” elements within the Delhi Police against allegedly harassing women protesters. He stressed that women participating in demonstrations should be treated with dignity and that any alleged misconduct by police personnel should not be ignored.

The remarks come amid tensions between protesters and police during demonstrations in the national capital. Such confrontations can involve allegations from both sides, making independent verification of individual incidents important.

Allegations Against Female Officers

Das also questioned claims made by some female police officers regarding alleged harassment by male protesters. According to him, female officers have been making videos in which male protesters are accused of inappropriate behaviour.

He rejected those allegations, stating that no male protester from his side had harassed a female police officer. Das further alleged that such claims were being used to portray female officers as victims.

Need for Independent Verification

The allegations made by Das have not been independently established based on the statement alone. Claims of harassment or misconduct during a protest would require verification through video footage, eyewitness accounts, police records and statements from the people directly involved.

At the same time, allegations involving police personnel also warrant scrutiny, particularly when they concern the treatment of women protesters during a public demonstration.

Police Response Awaited

The statement has put the conduct of both protesters and police personnel under focus. While Das has accused the Delhi Police of mistreating women protesters, he has also disputed allegations against male protesters involving female police officers.

A clear picture of the incidents will depend on evidence and responses from the concerned authorities and individuals. Until then, the allegations from either side remain claims that require independent verification.
