CM takes to ‘X’ to urge voters

Taking to his official ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) handle, CM Dr Yadav posted a message, encouraging citizens to prioritise voting. Echoing the popular slogan, he wrote, “Pehle Matdaan, Phir Jalpaan (Vote first, then enjoy your refreshments).” His message underscored the civic duty of participating in elections before engaging in routine activities.

In his post, the Chief Minister described the ongoing pollings in the three aforementioned states as a ‘grand festival of democracy.’ He urged voters to step out and cast their ballots, saying that each vote not only determines the government, but also strengthens the foundations of good governance, as well as development.

Assembly elections: Polling status across states

As per initial reports, voting for the Assam Assembly elections in all three regions is being conducted in a single phase. As many as 296 seats are going to the polls across Assam, Puducherry and Kerala. Officially released voter turnout figures indicate a steady participation rate during the morning hours. By 11 am, Assam saw a voter turnout of 19.87%, while Kerala logged 19.23% polling. Meanwhile, Puducherry registered a turnout of 17.41%.

Notably, leaders from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), including Chief ministers, ministers and senior office bearers had actively campaigned in these regions ahead of the polling day. CM Dr Yadav was among those who travelled to support the party's candidates and mobilise voters.

The elections in all these regions are being closely watched, as they are expected to reflect public sentiment on governance and development. With voter turnout surging gradually throughout the day, political leaders and authorities alike remain hopeful of robust participation in what is being termed as a crucial democratic exercise.
