India added another shooting medal to its Asian Games 2026 tally on Friday as Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Niraj Kumar and Rudrankksh Patil combined to win silver in the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions team event.
The Indian trio finished with 1762-94x, four points behind China, who claimed gold with 1766-95x. South Korea secured the bronze medal with 1751-87x. The result also saw Aishwary and Niraj progress to the individual final, while Rudrankksh narrowly missed out after finishing ninth in qualification.

Aishwary, Niraj make individual final
Aishwary finished third in the individual qualification standings with 589-34x, while Niraj secured fourth place with 588-34x. Rudrankksh recorded 585-26x to finish ninth.
India made a strong start in the team competition, scoring 587 points across the two kneeling series. The trio maintained its momentum in the prone position, adding 593 to take its combined tally to 1,180 after the first two stages.
They then posted 582 points in the standing position to finish on 1,762-94x and secure the silver medal.
Rudrankksh’s qualification score was higher than that of some shooters who advanced to the individual final. However, the rules allow a maximum of two competitors from a single National Olympic Committee (NOC) to contest the final. With Aishwary and Niraj already occupying two of India’s available places, Rudrankksh could not progress.
Kazakhstan’s Islam Satpayev, who advanced instead, subsequently won the bronze medal in the individual final.
More shooting success for India
The rifle team’s silver came on the same day that Suruchi Singh and Kamaljeet produced a gold-medal performance in the 10m air pistol mixed team event.
The Indian pair combined for an Asian-record 484.6 points in the final to claim the title. South Korea’s Suhyeon Hong and Gaeun Choo finished second with 478.0, while India’s winning margin stood at 6.6 points.

The two results underlined another productive day for India’s shooting contingent at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, with the rifle team delivering a hard-fought silver after China edged them by four points.
Aishwary and Niraj will now carry India’s hopes into the individual 50m rifle 3 positions final, while Rudrankksh’s team silver adds another medal to his growing Asian Games record.
