Illegal arms racket busted: The Delhi Crime branch on Saturday managed to achieve a breakthrough, as they dismantled an illegal arms manufacturing unit in UP’s Meerut and arrested two accused, which include a suspected shooter and a prominent arms supplier.
As per police, the operation was conducted on March 24 and 25, 2026, and is part of an ongoing probe into organised arms trafficking networks operating across Northern India. Officials who conducted the raid described it as a major step towards curtailing the manufacture and distribution of firearms in the National Capital Region (NCR).
Cache of weapons, manufacturing setup seized
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Pankaj Singh said that the accused, identified as Parvez aka Farrukh, was running an arms factory in a clandestine manner from his residence. He added that during the raid, the cops recovered a huge cache of weapons and equipment, including 24 pen pistols, two country-made firearms, several barrels and manufacturing tools from the spot. Another person linked to the facility was also arrested, and a pen pistol, a country-made weapon and six cartridges were seized from him.
Parvez a seasoned criminal: Cops
A statement issued by the police read that Parvez (37) is a seasoned criminal and has a long criminal history involving the illegal manufacture and supply of firearms. Previously, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) had also booked a case against him under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. Sources in police said the accused had earlier supplied weapons used by extremist elements linked to targeted killing in Punjab, for which he had served five years in custody.

The authorities also flagged links between the accused and other suspects, including a person identified as Pahad Singh, with connections dating back to 2017. The supply chain is believed to span across the NCR and extend into Punjab. The police identified another accused as Hasir, allegedly involved in multiple criminal cases, including a confrontation with Uttar Pradesh police.
Probe underway to dismantle entire racket
The police said they have mounted more raids to track down additional suspects and dismantle the broader network engaged in the illegal manufacture and distribution of arms. Officials underlined that the investigation remains ongoing, with efforts focused on identifying supply routes, financial links and end-users of the weapons.
