Hyderabad shocker: Woman dies by suicide weeks after forcibly being injected with HIV +ve blood, accused held

Hyderabad woman suicide: A disturbing incident has unfolded in Telangana’s capital, Hyderabad, where a 24-year-old woman died by suicide, weeks after a man forcibly injected HIV positive blood into her, the pollice said. As per police, the woman had turned down the man’s marriage proposal, infuriated by which, he carried out the detestable act.

The police said the woman was found hanging at her grandmother’s house on Friday morning. Her kin rushed her to a government hospital, where the doctors pronounced her dead upon arrival. Police said she had been reeling under intense mental distress after the assault. 

Accused was a relative of the victim woman

The investigating police personnel said that the accused, identified as Manohar, was a relative of the woman who died. The families had set up their marriage with each other. However, the woman’s family called off the alliance in September 2025 after a medical test confirmed that Manohar was HIV +ve. 

On March 11, 2026, Manohar stormed into the woman’s house and forcibly injected her with his HIV-infected blood, allegedly intended at coercing her into marriage. The police subsequently arrested him on March 15 and placed him in judicial custody. 

Woman dies by suicide owing to social stigma

Almost a month after the incident, the woman began experiencing profound emotional trauma, compounded by fear and social stigma linked to HIV. Her family sought mental health treatment for her at a private hospital, but her mental health continued to deteriorate.

As per police, the psychological impact of the assault may have pushed her to the brink of suicide. A police officer aware of the case said, “The case is being examined from all angles.” 

Hyderabad woman suicide: Abetment to suicide case to be invoked against accused

Initially, the accused was booked under Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to attempted murder. However, following the drastic step taken by the woman, the police are expected to invoke Section 306 (abetment to suicide) against him. Meanwhile, the victim’s body has been sent for autopsy, and the report is awaited.
