Hera Pheri 3 news: Bollywood actor Akshay on Friday finally addressed the long-standing uncertainty surrounding the third instalment of the Hera Pheri franchise. He revealed that the much-anticipated comedy sequel is unlikely to happen anytime soon due to unresolved issues.
The actor, while speaking during an interaction on a YouTube channel ahead of his upcoming film Bhooth Bangla, admitted that the project has been stalled despite massive interest of fans in seeing the beloved trio reunite.

Hera Pheri 3 news: “Film not happening right now,” says Kumar
Breaking his silence on the project’s updates, Kumar said the film is not happening as of now, adding that even he was taken aback by the delays. He said, “There are many issues, not between the three of us, but other complications.” He hinted at underlying contractual and legal challenges that the film is facing, which have derailed its progress.
Continuing his statements, Kumar said that the film is unlikely to materialise within the next year, and suggested that multiple agreements, coupled with behind-the-scenes complications, have pushed the project backwards. While refraining from divulging specifics, the actor acknowledged that certain matters cannot be discussed publicly. Despite the setback, the actor struck a hopeful note, asserting that the film would eventually take shape ‘when the time is right.’
Trio still united, but hurdles dent project
Notably, the franchise’s fans have been eagerly awaiting the return of the iconic trio; Paresh Rawal, Suniel Shetty and Akshay Kumar, whose chemistry defined the franchise and brought it critical acclaim. However, the third instalment has been mired in controversy, particularly after Rawal’s unexpected exit earlier, which left the fans and Kumar in shock. The film was dealt a severe blow after a legal tussle ensued between a South-based producer and Firoz Nadiadwala over copyright ownership, casting further doubt on the film’s future.

Kumar clarified that there are no creative differences among the lead actors, maintaining that the trio continues to collaborate on Welcome to the Jungle. He signalled that their on-screen partnership remains intact and unfaltered.
The original Hera Pheri, a 2000-release, was directed by Priyadarshan, and introduced audiences to unforgettable characters Baburao (Paresh Rawal), Shyam (Suneil Shetty) and Raju (Akshay Kumar). It bagged cult status for its humour and writing. The sequel to the film, titled ‘Phir Hera Pheri,’ was directed by Neeraj Vora, and further cemented the franchise’s popularity.
