Farming equipment tax waiver MP: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav on Wednesday announced a toll fee exemption for combine harvesters used during crop harvesting, officials said. The move aims to ease the financial burden on the cultivators of the state, as per officials. They added that the decision forms part of the state government’s broader push towards farmer welfare in 2026.
Addressing a meeting, CM Dr Yadav reiterated that the government is firmly committed to farmers’ well-being, aligning its policies with the vision of ‘Prosperous farmers, Prosperous state.’

Farmers to get major relief
CM Dr Yadav shed light on the rationale behind the decision, saying that combine harvesters are indispensable agricultural machines, especially during peak harvesting seasons. He added that by exempting these vehicles from toll tax charges on designated routes, the government aims to reduce transportation costs. He further said that the move would not only benefit farmers directly, but will also have a positive ripple effect on agricultural produce prices. Lower operational costs are expected to drive up profitability for cultivators of MP, while ensuring price stability in the market. CM Dr Yadav remarked, “This decision will prove beneficial for farmers and will strengthen the rural economy.”

Greenfield road projects receive nod
In the same meeting chaired by the Chief Minister, the board also approved key infrastructure proposals, including the construction of the Indore-Ujjain and Ujjain-Jaora Greenfield Corridors. Officials said that these projects will be developed as non-access controlled routes, and will aim to improve regional connectivity and boost economic activity. The planned road networks are likely to facilitate smoother transport of agricultural goods, further supporting the farmers.
Senior officials attend meeting
Detailed discussions on annual accounts and various administrative matters were also held in the meeting. Additional Chief Secretaries Sanjay Dubey and Manish Rastogi, Principal Secretary (Public Works) Sukhbir Singh, Principal Secretary (Forest department) Sandeep Yadav and Managing Director of MP Road Development Corporation, Bharat Yadav were in attendance in the meeting.
