Premieres of ‘Toxic’, ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’ deferred to avoid box office clash with Dhurandhar-2

Entertainment news: The upcoming Bollywood release calendar on Tuesday saw a major reshuffle after the makers of ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups,’ postponed the film’s premiere to June 4, 2026, aimed at avoiding its box office clash with Ranveer Singh-starrer ‘Dhurandhar 2.’ Following this, the release of ‘Hai Jawani toh Ishq Hona Hai’, featuring Varun Dhawan was also deferred to June 12, 2026.

Makers emphasise industry solidarity

Production banner Tips Films confirmed the development on Tuesday, by posting a joint statement on social media giant Instagram alongside actors Varun Dhawan, Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur. They clarified that Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai had been slated to release on June 5, 2026, but following recent developments in the release calendar, the makers have mulled shifting the film’s release. Their statement emphasised that cooperation among filmmakers is healthier for the film industry than unnecessary competition over release dates. Owing to the same, the team decided to move their film to June 12, allowing audiences to enjoy both the movies without overlap.

Toxic’s release postponed amid global uncertainty

They feared that the tensions could affect the film’s ability to make strides overseas, as it has been shot in both Kannada and English, eyeing the global market. Had the date remained unchanged, Toxic would have clashed with Dhurandhar: The Revenge, starring Ranveer Singh, which is still expected for theatrical release as scheduled.
