Mexico the neighbouring country of America is burning, schools, colleges are closed. Flights are
cancelled. There is arson and firing everywhere. The city Mexico seems to be submerged in silence, the
reason for this is El Mencho’s death. He was Mexico’s most dangerous Mafia and his gang was involved
in supplying drugs like Opium, Meth and Fentanyl to America and as a result thousands of people were
dying in America, so America placed a reward of 135 crores on El Mencho but still he always managed to
escape. But on 21st February 2026 he was unfortunate and got injured in an encounter with police. The
next day he died and since then his death has been an uproar in Mexico.
You might be wandering what is the story of El Mencho, how he managed to built such a big empire of
drug cartel, how police managed his encounter any there is so much of chaos and arson happening in
Mexico and when the life in the city will be normalised. In this article we will try to explain the complete
story of Mexico, various drug cartels and El Mencho.
Mexico is a neighbouring country of America and towards North it shares the same boundaries. The
Mainland boundaries of America is attached with only two countries in North it is canada and in south it
is Mexico. This is the main reason that most of the trades of Mexico is with America but there is a
another angle to this also that a big portion of the land was taken by America from Mexico after having
a fight with them. Mexican culture is still visible in the southern states of America this looks like a good
connection between the two countries.
But now comes the big question how Mexico become the biggest supplier of drugs and how so many
drug cartels were formed? It all started in the begining of 20th century, In 1914 the United States passed
the Harrison Narcotics Act under which the domestic production of opium and other drugs were
stopped. Doctors were also barred from prescribing opium based medicines. In 1920 US also banned the
use of alchohol and the aim of both the decisions were to protect people from the addiction but it had
the opposite effect. In Black market the demand for these things started increasing and this gave the
Mexican suppliers a chance and they took the advantage of it by promoting poor farmers to cultivate
opium and selling it in America and making profits. Between America and Mexico there has neen a long
border of more than 3000 kms. Many places have dense forests and difficult paths, so it was not easy to
guard the entire border. It proved to be very good for drug suppliers later America removed the ban also
but untill now Mexican drug cartel had already made their networks. Then came the era of 40s when
second world war started and America was also involved in this and for the treatment of injured soldiers
the reqirement of Morphine arouse in big quantities then America in a silent manner promoted the
cultivation of opium and this led to the good income for the farmers.
After world war was over Mexican drug cartels promoted these farmers and encouraged them to grow
opium and as a result cities like Chihuahua and Guadalajara become the promient drug destinations. In
1980 the drug cartels of Columbia also get influenced and in this era Pablo Escobar and his group Medlin
became the most dangerous drug cartel apart from this Kali cartel was also a prominent name in this
field. In 1980’s there were the market leaders in the American drug supply market. Then came the era of
1990’s when gradually the drug cartels of Columbia started vanishing, Pablo Escobar died and his gang
also vanished slowly by the end of 1995 Kali cartel also vanished. Then during this period the Mexican
drug cartels started flourishing and the gangs like Cine Loa cartel and Loss Detos cartels were the
prominent names. Cine Loa cartel was formed by El Chapo and El Mayo both of them were earlier
working for Guadalhaara cartel but later when the leader of this cartel El Badrino was caught by the
police then they both took the charge and formed new gang. El Chapo was even featured as the richest
man in Forbes magazine and he even wanted to make a film on his life but before he could do this he
was caught by the police. In 2024 El Mayo was also arrested and presently both of them are prisoned in
American jail.
After the end of El Chapo and El Mayo chapter the drug supply story in Mexico was not stopped rather it
increased because in their place new drug peddler EL Mencho came in the big scene and he proved to
be the most dangerous than later two. Earlier El Mencho was caught in America for selling heroine and
he spent 3 years in jail. After completing his punishment he came back to Mexico and worked some time
in Mexican police and during this priod he came in contact with Mileneo group and he started working
with them. He was cruel and ruthless and people were terrified by him later in 2007 El Mencho along
with his friend formed a new gang CJNJ ( Cartel de Jalisco Nueva Generacion ) means Jalisco New
Generation Cartel . Later in the rivallery of the gangs for supremacy there started gang wars and after
the arrest of El Chapo and El Mayo, there came the power vaccum in Mexican drug trade and El Mencho
took the advantage of the situation and he became the supreme leader of all the drug cartels despite of
this he was not very social and he avoid public appearnce. His group CJNJ has more than 20000 fighters
and most of them are military trained and they are equipped with latest weapons and military vehicles
and they even use high tech drones and rocket launchers. CJNJ has complete network in entire America
and they even sell drugs in the markets of Canada, Asia, Europe, Africa and Australia their main business
is to sell drugs like Cocaine, Meth and Phnentanil and reportedly their annual turnover is more than 1
lakh crore and the group believes in massive violence. In 2015 police tried to catch El Mencho but they
failed and at that time his group even blow the military helicopter. In 2020 his group CJNJ even tried to
kill the Police Commissioner of Mexico City even though somehow he escaped.
Now lets decode how El Mencho was caught and later died, a joint operation of Mexican Police, Special
Task Force, Air Force, National Guard, Mexican Intelligence and Amrican agencies was formed and on
21st February 2026 a joint operation was started was started in Talpalpa city the city surrounded by
mountains and they attcked the CJNJ group with full force and planning as a result 3 gang members
were died and 3 were badly injured including El Mencho, he was brought to Mexican city for treatment
but during treatment he died. El Mencho was most wanted both for Mexico and America and even
American president Donald Trump was continuously creating pressure on Mexican government to finish
drug cartel and even in February 2025 he declared CJNJ as terroist organisation. After the death of El
Mencho Mexican government is trying to showcase the world that they are very serious in destroying
the drug cartels but the serious question is that can the death of El Mencho will really destroy the drug
trade in Mexico, experts feel that No it is not easy to destroy the grug trade in Mexico because drug
trade in Mexico is not dependent on any single person rather it is a Professional industry having its
network all over, people are always ready and trained for leadership positions, in a short period the
breakdown in the group can be seen but in a long period the business will not end. After the death of El
Mencho his group members are on roads and they are attacking Civilians ans Security personnels and
this seems to be their line of action to show the revenge of killing their leader and showing the
authorities not to cross the lines beyond hence the repurcutions can even be worse. Mexican drug cartel
works as a parallel system and it cannot be destroyed by kiiling any one person its a long and never
ending fight.
