Dhurandhar 2 OTT release: The Delhi High Court (HC) on Thursday referred a high-profile copyright dispute involving the film, Dhurandhar 2, to mediation, paving the way for both parties to resolve the matter amicably. The legal tussle, which ensued between Trimurti Films and B62 Studios, is centred on the song Rang De Lal (Oye Oye), which has been alleged to be a remix of Oye Oye Tirchhi Topiwale from the 1989 Hindi-release, ‘Tridev.’
The court observed that the dispute appeared largely financial in nature, and ordered the parties to explore a settlement through mediation, particularly on issues pertaining to compensation and royalties. A senior mediator, as per sources, is expected to be appointed to facilitate the process.

OTT release timeline emerges
During the proceedings, it came to pass that Dhurandhar 2 is unlikely to debut on streaming platforms before mid-May 2026. While the prequel is currently available on Netflix, the sequel is slated for release on JioHotstar.
Allegations of unauthorised usage surface against Dhurandhar 2 makers
Trimurti Films has accused the Dhurandhar 2 makers of using elements from the original Tirchhi Topiwale track without proper authorisation. The rights to the original song, composed by Kalyanji-Anandji are held by Trimurti Films.
The production house has argued that the alleged infringement extends beyond theatrical exhibition to include digital streaming and promotional usage, thereby amplifying the commercial impact of the purported violation.
Dhurandhar 2 OTT release: Defence hits back
Super Cassettes Industries Limited, which holds the audio rights for Dhurandhar 2, opposed the claims and contended that Trimurti Films had overlooked earlier instances where songs from Tridev were reused. Meanwhile, the counsel for B62 Studios maintained that the dispute does not warrant immediate legal escalation, especially as the film has already completed its theatrical release phase.

Helmed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar franchise has emerged as a box-office juggernaut. It features stars such as Ranveer Singh, Arjun Rampal and R Madhavan, and has raked in over Rs 1600 crore worldwide since its release in March 2026. With directives issued for mediation, all eyes now remain on whether the dispute will be resolved before the film’s digital premiere.
