CM Varanasi visit: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav on Saturday struck a chord with the public, during his recent visit to UP’s Varanasi. On Saturday morning, the Chief Minister paused his official convoy to relish the street’s famed street food, leaving locals pleasantly surprised and awestruck.
Pictures of the unexpected stop have since gone viral across social media platforms, with many praising CM Dr Yadav’s down-to-earth demeanour. Residents expressed delight upon seeing the Chief Minister mingle freely, with several saying they could hardly believe he was among them without the usual fanfare.

CM stops convoy while heading to airport
The incident occurred when CM Dr Yadav’s convoy was en route to the Varanasi airport. He spontaneously halted at the well-known Shriram Bhandar near Mint House in the city. He then relished some of Varanasi’s iconic and lip-smacking delicacies, including Kachori, poori with ram bhaji, and freshly prepared jalebi. Speaking during the halt, CM Dr Yadav highlighted the importance of regional cuisines in reflecting India’s diverse identity. He said every state and city in the country possesses a unique culinary tradition, forming an integral part of its cultural fabric. He added that traditional dishes and local flavours are key elements of India’s rich heritage.
CM Varanasi visit: Locals gather around Dr Yadav
CM Dr Yadav’s approachable and unassuming conduct quickly won over the ones present at the scene. Locals gathered around him, with many eager to greet and interact with him. Several residents commended his willingness to engage in a conversation with the commoners, describing the experience as both unexpected and memorable. One local said, “It didn’t feel like we were speaking to a Chief Minister,” reflecting the general sentiment. The candid interaction by CM Dr Yadav, free from official protocol, has since drawn widespread praise online.
Notably, CM Dr Yadav had visited Varanasi to participate in the theatrical performance centred on the life of Emperor Vikramaditya, titled ‘Vikramaditya Mahanatya.’
