CBSE adopted this approach for Class 10 students
The expected shift in the timeline is being linked to an academic reform adopted by the CBSE; the introduction of a two-board-exam system for Class 10, a first in its history. As per CBSE officials, their aim is to slash academic pressure for students and offer them more flexibility in performance assessment.

46L students await results, experts weigh in
As many as 46 lakh students of the CBSE board are awaiting their Class 10 and Class 12 exam results, with a mix of hope and anxiety. Many students perceive their marks as a turning point in their academic journey. However, experts note that this perception leads to intense psychological pressure. Educationists and psychologists say that while a certain level of stress can enhance focus, its excess may result in symptoms such as sleep disturbances, anxiety and reduction in concentration.
An academic counsellor opined, “Board exam results are important, but they are not a measure of a student’s worth. They simply reflect performance at a given point in time.”
CBSE 10th, 12 results 2026: Parents’ reactions matter, here’s why
Experts further note that parental response on result day plays a pivotal role in shaping a student’s well-being. They added that harsh criticism, comparison with peers or unrealistic expectations can damage their child’s confidence up to significant levels. Experts encourage parents to remain calm, acknowledge their ward’s efforts and reassure them that marks do not define their future. Furthermore, statements exhibiting support and understanding can instill resilience among students, and can motivate them to move forward positively.

Moreover, such students, who do not achieve expected results are advised not to lose heart, as CBSE provides multiple pathways like compartment exams, re-evaluation and alternative academic routes.
Parents have been urged to watch for signs of distress among their children, such as emotional withdrawal, irritability or loss of appetite, and seek help from professionals if necessary. Apart from this, schools and society, too, have a role to play in reducing result-related pressure, by promoting holistic development rather than solely focusing on marks.
