Automobile news: German luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz has announced a 2% price hike across its vehicle lineup in India on Friday, effective from April 2026. The carmaker cited volatility in foreign exchange rates and rising input costs. Notably, this marks the second price revision by the automaker in 2026, following a similar 2% hike implemented in January 2026.
Price hike to vary by model

On the basis of the current pricing estimates, the revision is expected to raise vehicle prices by Rs 89,000 to Rs 4.84 lakh, depending on the model. Currently, the A-Class sedan remains as the most affordable Mercedes-Benz offering in the country, starting at Rs 44.45 lakh. On the other hand, the AMG G63 stands as the brand’s most expensive model, whose prices begin from Rs 3.67 crore.
These models likely to be affected
The models likely to be affected by the price hike include the C-Class, E-Class Long Wheelbase, S-Class, GLA, GLC, GLE, GLS, EQA, EQB, EQE, EQS, CLE Cabriolet, and the recently introduced V-Class.

Audi India announces similar move
Notably, Mercedes-Benz is not the sole car manufacturer raising prices, as Audi India has also announced a 2% price hike across its entire model range. Similar to Mercedes, the revised prices of the Audi lineup will also come into effect on April 1, 2026. Once implemented, the change will raise the ex-showroom prices of all Audi models sold in India.
Depreciation of Indian rupee prompted price hike in Jan 2026
In January 2026, Mercedes-Benz had hiked the prices of its cars in India by 2%, attributing it to the depreciation of the Indian Rupee. While recent GST adjustments enforced in September 2025 brought some respite to the automotive sector, industry experts have warned that continued cost pressures could eventually push vehicle prices closer to levels seen under the previous GST regime, if the trend persists.
