Bookings for Tata Sierra surpass 1 lakh nationwide; company revs up production to cater to demands

Automobile news: India’s leading car manufacturer, Tata Motors, renowned for building the safest cars, has begun revving up the production of its newly launched SUV, ‘Sierra’, after its bookings recently surpassed the 1 lakh mark in India. Notably, Sierra’s deliveries had kicked off in mid-January 2026 and the company had already dispatched more than 14 thousand units by February 2026, as per statistics.

Company spokesperson confirms development

A company spokesperson verified the claims and said that the automaker is responding swiftly to the rising demand, by expanding the production capacity and coordinating with the supplier network. He said, “The strong state of bookings and the surging demand for the Tata Sierra are being addressed with agility and rigour.” The company maintained that manufacturing teams are persevering in efforts to reduce the turn-around time for customers, while ensuring that strict quality standards are being adhered to. 

Tata braces for expansion in Sierra’s production

Sources in the industry suggest that Tata is scaling up Sierra production to approximately 15,000 units per month by the second quarter. This output, as per sources, shall include close to 12,000 units of the car’s Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) version. Meanwhile, a section of auto enthusiasts is awaiting the launch of Sierra’s electric version, codenamed ‘Rowa’ internally.

Tata Motors records record-high sales recently

Recently, Tata Motors saw its highest-ever monthly passenger vehicle sales at 70,000 units. Industry analysts suggest that the Sierra, along with the refreshed Punch, could propel the company to strong output levels while it squares off with Mahindra & Mahindra for the second spot in India’s passenger vehicle market.  

Car was launched in late 2025 in India

Notably, Tata Motors launched the new-generation Sierra in India in late 2025. The model is priced between Rs 11 to 21 lakh (ex-showroom) and is offered with multi-terrain options. Additionally, the car is the first of its kind in India to feature a triple-screen setup, including a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster for the driver, and an additional 12.3-inch display for the co-pilot.
