The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) is buckling up for another round of street-level mobilisation, as the outfit’s founder Abhijeet Dipke announced on Wednesday that ‘Season 2 of Jantar Mantar’ would begin soon. 

Dipke’s remarks come weeks after his outfit spearheaded a major student-led agitation at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar over the NEET UG 2026 paper leak, students preparing for the exam who died by suicide and demands for education reforms. Owing to the same, the pressure intensified on the Centre and culminated in the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. 

Subsequently, the CJP announced that it would continue as a pressure group aimed at holding democratic institutions accountable. 

‘Season 2’ to extend beyond Delhi

Addressing media-persons, CJP Founder Dipke said he had received repeated questions on social media about when the second phase of Jantar Mantar movement would unfold next. He added, “Many people were commenting on Instagram when Season 2 of ‘Jantar-Mantar’ will begin.? I want to tell them that Season 2 of ‘Jantar-Mantar’ is going to start very soon.” 

Meanwhile, the party’s chief spokesperson Saurav Das clarified that the reference was not simply to another demonstration at the Delhi protest site. Instead, he termed it a ‘broader phase’ of mobilisation that would extend across the country. He told ANI, “This itself is Season 2,” pointing to protests being held in various parts of the country against governments and officials he called ‘incompetent.’

He continued by saying that the CJP was now embarking on a nationwide ‘listening tour’ to get a hang of the concerns of the public and would launch campaigns on the basis of the issues raised by people. He further said education would be the organisation’s first priority, and a campaign for the same has been planned from Independence Day. 

Dipke alleges ‘pressure from above’

While interacting with the media, Dipke also alleged that the CJP faced numerous hurdles in finding a venue for a volunteers’ meeting in Delhi on Wednesday. He claimed several hall owners refused to rent space to the organisation, citing what they described as ‘pressure from above.’ The CJP founder alleged that the BJP was exerting pressure. 

He then informed that the CJP eventually managed to book a hall after facing various hardships and had a receipt confirming the booking. However, he alleged that the venue owners were subsequently threatened on the morning of the meeting. 

He added that owners were warned that allowing the CJP gathering to proceed could have dire consequences.
