A happy engagement ceremony in Damoh, Madhya Pradesh, turned into a tragedy after a gas pipeline burst at the Royal Damyanti Palace, triggering a sudden fire while food was being prepared.

Three members of the catering team were caught in the blaze. One employee, identified as Gaurav, died, while two others suffered serious burn injuries in the incident.

Fire Breaks Out During Food Preparation

According to the available information, the accident occurred while the catering staff was cooking for the engagement ceremony. A gas pipeline reportedly burst, causing flames to spread suddenly and engulf the area.

The fire caught three catering workers who were present at the venue. Panic broke out at the palace as people tried to move away from the flames and help those trapped inside.

Worker Dies While Trying to Escape

Gaurav reportedly attempted to escape the fire by entering a small room. However, he was unable to find a way out of the room. He subsequently died from suffocation caused by smoke, according to the information available.

Another employee, Ajay, was reportedly injured while attempting to rescue Gaurav. He suffered serious burns and was among the two people injured in the accident.

Police Begin Investigation

Following the incident, police and administrative officials reached the spot and began investigating the circumstances surrounding the gas pipeline failure and subsequent fire.

The incident has cast a shadow over what was supposed to be a joyous family celebration. The accident also raises concerns about gas pipeline safety and fire-prevention measures at venues where large-scale cooking is carried out.

Authorities are expected to examine the gas pipeline, cooking arrangements and other safety measures at the venue as part of the investigation.
