Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav on Friday shared a heartwarming moment with children during his visit to Tikamgarh, when he personally performed the Annaprashan Sanskar of an infant girl named Vaishnavi by feeding her kheer.

The touching gesture came during the Chief Minister’s inspection of the Takha Anganwadi Centre, where he interacted with children, mothers and beneficiaries of various welfare schemes.

On his arrival, CM Dr Yadav was warmly welcomed by Ladli Laxmi beneficiaries, Ladli sisters and women beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana. The women tied sacred rakhi threads around the Chief Minister’s wrist as a gesture of affection.

In return, CM Dr Yadav presented the Ladli sisters with sarees, cosmetics and umbrellas, expressing his gratitude towards them.

CM interacts with children, checks food quality

During his visit, the Chief Minister spent time with the children at the Anganwadi centre, showering them with affection and offering them blessings. He gave them roses and asked their names before engaging them in a candid conversation about the food they received at the centre.

“What do you get to eat?” he asked. The children innocently replied, “Breakfast and food.”

CM Dr Yadav then asked them whether they actually ate the meals provided to them. The children enthusiastically responded in the affirmative.

Following the interaction, the Chief Minister directed officials to ensure that children receive nutritious and good-quality breakfast and meals at the Anganwadi centre.

Vaishnavi’s Annaprashan becomes a special moment

The highlight of the visit was when CM Dr Yadav performed the traditional Annaprashan ceremony of little Vaishnavi. He fed the infant kheer with his own hands and blessed her for a bright and prosperous future.

The Chief Minister also instructed officials to ensure a continuous supply of clean drinking water for children as well as pregnant and lactating mothers visiting the centre.

He took particular interest in the centre’s kitchen and inspected the facility to assess the arrangements being made for preparing food. CM Dr Yadav also greeted local residents after reaching the Takha Anganwadi Centre and listened to their concerns and grievances.

Senior officials present

The visit was attended by Krishna Gaur, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare and Welfare of Denotified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Communities, who is also the minister in charge of Tikamgarh district.

Chief Secretary Ashok Barnwal, along with other public representatives and senior administrative officials, was also present during the Chief Minister’s visit.

The Annaprashan ceremony and Yadav’s interaction with the children added an emotional touch to his field visit, while his directions on nutrition, food quality and drinking water underscored the administration’s focus on the welfare of women and children.
