Sehore-made power transformers set for global markets as MP CM Dr Yadav poised to roll out first unit product

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav will inaugurate the roll-out of the first power transformer manufactured at CG Power and Industrial Solutions Limited’s new facility in Sehore on Friday, marking a significant step towards strengthening the state’s electrical equipment manufacturing ecosystem.

Spread across nearly 50 acres, the facility is described as India’s largest single-location power transformer manufacturing unit. CM Dr Yadav had performed the ground-breaking ceremony for the plant in August 2025, and production commenced within around 13 to 14 months of the foundation ceremony.

Transformers ranging from 220 kV to 1,200 kV

The modern manufacturing facility has been established to cater to the country’s growing electricity requirements and will manufacture high-capacity power transformers ranging from 220 kV to 1,200 kV.

The unit is expected to have the capacity to manufacture 35 power transformers every month. The establishment of such a large-scale facility at a single location is expected to strengthen India’s domestic manufacturing capabilities for high-voltage transmission equipment.

The transformers manufactured in Sehore will not only be supplied to different parts of the country but will also be exported to global markets. They are expected to find applications across several critical sectors, including power, data centres, railways, renewable energy, oil and gas, and transmission infrastructure projects.

Project moves from investment proposal to production

The Sehore facility is being viewed as an important development in Madhya Pradesh’s efforts to translate major industrial investment proposals into operational projects.

Under Chief Minister Dr Yadav’s leadership, the state government has been focusing on converting investment commitments into actual industrial projects while creating employment opportunities at the local level.

The CG Power facility is expected to generate more than 2,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities in Sehore. Besides creating jobs, the unit is likely to generate opportunities for businesses and ancillary industries associated with the manufacturing and supply chain.

Boost to India’s power infrastructure

CG Power and Industrial Solutions has been operating in the electrical engineering sector for nearly nine decades. The company manufactures transformers, switchgear, induction motors, drives, traction motors and other electrical equipment.

The new Sehore facility will significantly expand the company’s power transformer manufacturing capabilities. The production of large and high-capacity transformers is expected to contribute towards meeting India’s growing electricity and transmission requirements.

At the same time, exports from the facility could give a fresh impetus to Sehore’s industrial profile and strengthen Madhya Pradesh’s position in the electrical equipment manufacturing sector.

With high-voltage transformers from Sehore set to serve both domestic and international markets, the project is expected to emerge as an important industrial milestone for the state while creating a wider economic impact through employment, exports and allied business opportunities.
