MP Plans Recruitment Drive for 85k Vacant Posts; Promotion-Created Vacancies To Be Filled Too
In a major update for government job aspirants in Madhya Pradesh, the state government is preparing to push ahead with recruitment for around 85,000 vacant posts across various departments. The government will also include vacancies created after the promotion of officers and employees in the recruitment exercise.
The move comes amid efforts to address the shortage of personnel in government departments and expedite the filling of long-pending vacancies.
Recruitment through ESB, MPPSC
MP’s Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav said advertisements for vacant posts and the recruitment process are being taken forward during 2026. Recruitment will be conducted through various agencies, including the Madhya Pradesh Employees Selection Board (ESB) and the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC).
The exercise is expected to cover vacancies across different departments, with the government working on completing the recruitment process during the year.
Nearly 1L posts targeted earlier
The process of filling vacant government posts was accelerated from December 2025 following complaints about a shortage of employees and officers in various departments.
After obtaining department-wise details of vacant positions through the General Administration Department, the Chief Minister had directed officials to initiate recruitment for around one lakh posts.
The latest exercise is part of the government's broader effort to strengthen staffing levels across state departments.
2,548 Anganwadi posts included
The recruitment drive also includes 2,548 posts in the Women and Child Development Department.
Through MP Online, recruitment action has been initiated for 781 Anganwadi Worker posts and 1,767 Anganwadi Helper posts. Together, the two categories account for 2,548 positions.
Vacancies created after promotions also to be filled

The government has also resumed the promotion process in the state after it remained stalled for nearly a decade. According to CM Dr Yadav, around one lakh officers and employees have been promoted following the first round of Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) proceedings.
The vacancies arising as a result of these promotions are now being assessed department-wise. These newly vacant positions will also be considered for recruitment, potentially expanding the number of posts available to job seekers.
Employee body seeks continuous recruitment
Umashankar Tiwari, provincial general secretary of the Third-Class Employees' Union, said filling vacant posts was essential but argued that recruitment should not be restricted to a one-time exercise.
He also highlighted delays at the departmental level and called for the recruitment process to continue on a regular basis so that vacancies do not accumulate over time.
