National Education Policy is important, says CM Dr. Mohan — youth are connecting with moral values through it
Bhopal. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav attended a workshop on August 4 on the theme "Emerging Knowledge Areas, Advanced Curriculum: Vision, Direction and Implementation." The workshop was organized at the Administrative Academy. Governor Mangubhai Patel was also present at the event. The objective of the workshop was to make higher education curricula modern, employment-oriented, multidisciplinary, and technology-enabled in line with present and future needs for the effective implementation of the National Education Policy-2020. At the event, the Higher Education Department also signed MoUs with IIT institutions across the country for different objectives. Director General of the India Meteorological Department Dr. Mrutyunjay Mohapatra and national secretary of Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas Dr. Atul Kothari were also present.
Addressing the event, Governor Mangubhai Patel said that quality and value-based education is the foundation of social and national development. Quality education is essential for a developed India. Skill-, employment-, and value-based education is the need of the hour for the youth. Education experts should give special thought to quality and value-based education for the country's youth. He said that ensuring employment-oriented education for every child should be the highest priority of the education sector. All universities and educational institutions in the state should offer as many employment- and skill-based courses as possible. There is a need to create placement opportunities for students. He said that courses should be designed according to the demands of local industries. Educational institutions should coordinate with industries and organizations and design new courses through research as required.
Youth will strengthen the country and the state
On this occasion, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that through the National Education Policy, the country's youth are connecting with moral values. By becoming educated and trained according to the demands of the times, they will strengthen not only the country but also the state. He said that after the implementation of the National Education Policy, the Higher Education Department has done excellent work in advancing its various dimensions. For this, all officers and employees of the department deserve congratulations. Higher Education Minister Inder Singh Parmar said that Madhya Pradesh was the first state in the country to implement the National Education Policy-2020. The state government has decided to include the Indian knowledge tradition in curricula. The policy places special emphasis on designing courses that include skill development along with knowledge. He said that this workshop would prove extremely important in preparing curricula in line with the National Education Policy. The Madhya Pradesh government's objective is to provide quality education to students. The government has signed MoUs with the Government of India and various institutions. Emphasis is also being placed on student placements after the completion of studies. He said that discussions would be held here on arranging education in colleges according to modern needs and industry requirements. Vice-chancellors from various universities participated in the workshop. The conclusions of the workshop will help in preparing better curricula.
MP is a leading state in implementing the National Education Policy
Additional Chief Secretary of the Higher Education Department Anupam Rajan said that Madhya Pradesh is a leading state in implementing the National Education Policy. The state government is working to improve it further. Special emphasis is being placed on curricula for the agriculture faculty in the state. At the same time, significant work is being done in technology, AI, and engineering. The integration of technology in the education department has increased rapidly. Over the past two years, thousands of assistant professors have been recruited, helping to address the shortage of faculty in colleges. Workshops are being organized for capacity building and faculty development. In the workshop's five different sessions, various topics related to educational advancement will be discussed. He said that MoUs would also be signed between the Madhya Pradesh Higher Education Department and 30 institutions, through which a better roadmap for education and skill development for youth could be prepared.
Higher Education Department signed these MoUs
At the event, the Higher Education Department signed MoUs with IIT Bombay for employability development through digital skills and open-source technology; IIT Madras for future technologies and a strong bridge to globally competitive education; IIT Guwahati for AI-based higher education; IIT Varanasi for advanced technical education and research excellence; IIT Roorkee for excellence in leadership, sustainable development, and disaster management; and IIT Kharagpur for quality higher education and institutional excellence.
In addition, IIT Indore signed an MoU to promote innovation, startups, and entrepreneurship culture; the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Good Governance and Policy Analysis (AIGGPA) signed one to connect good governance and public policy studies with higher education; the Madhya Pradesh Council of Science and Technology (MPCST) signed one to give new momentum to scientific research and innovation; and the India Meteorological Department signed one to provide a new direction to climate literacy and meteorology-based research.
Jabalpur's Tropical Forest Research Institute signed an MoU to connect forest biodiversity and climate change research with higher education; the Advanced Materials and Processes Research Institute (AMPRI) signed one to give a new direction to innovation through scientific research and advanced technology; the Indian Institute of Forest Management (IIFM) signed one for knowledge partnership in environmental leadership and sustainable development; and the Indian Institute of Soil Science (IISS) signed one to promote sustainable agriculture and soil science research.
The Central Institute of Agricultural Engineering will work with higher education institutions on agricultural innovation and technology-based higher education, while the National Forensic Sciences University will focus on future-oriented skill development in forensic science and cybersecurity. Madhya Pradesh Police will work toward building safe, aware, and responsible citizens. The Labour Department signed an MoU for employment-oriented education, skill development, and awareness of workers' rights in Madhya Pradesh; the National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research signed one for technical proficiency, innovative teaching, and faculty capacity building; and the Regional Institute of Education, Bhopal signed one for excellence in teacher education and enhancement of academic quality.
