MP to Observe ‘Maharshi Sandipani Shraddha Parv’ on Guru Purnima; CM Dr Yadav Reviews Preparations
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav on Monday directed officials to make elaborate preparations for the upcoming Guru Purnima celebrations across the state, with a special focus on promoting India's rich cultural heritage, the revered guru-shishya (teacher-disciple) tradition, and the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
Chairing a high-level review meeting, the Chief Minister instructed all concerned departments to ensure that the celebrations are organised in a manner that reflects the values of Indian civilisation and inspires the younger generation to appreciate the country's ancient education system.
Sandipani Sharaddha Parv to be observed across the state
CM Dr Yadav announced that the state would observe 'Maharshi Sandipani Shraddha Parv' on the occasion of Guru Purnima. The initiative aims to familiarise students and young people with India's traditional knowledge system, the ancient Gurukul model of education, and the enduring significance of teachers in shaping society.
Booklet on maharshi Sandipani to reach state’s every school
As part of the celebrations, the Chief Minister directed officials to prepare a concise booklet highlighting the life of Maharshi Sandipani, his contributions to education, and the principles of the ancient Gurukul system. The booklet will be distributed across all schools in Madhya Pradesh.
According to the Chief Minister, the publication will help students understand India's educational heritage and the ideals that have long defined the relationship between teachers and their disciples.
He emphasised that Guru Purnima should not be viewed merely as a religious festival but as an occasion to honour knowledge, education and the values imparted by teachers.

Sandipani school buildings to be inaugurated
CM Dr Yadav also instructed officials to ensure that the inauguration of all remaining Sandipani school buildings across the state is completed before Guru Purnima.
The state government believes these institutions will strengthen educational infrastructure and provide improved learning facilities for students, further reinforcing its commitment to quality education.
Guru pujan programmes across educational institutions
On Guru Purnima, Guru Pujan ceremonies will be organised in educational institutions throughout Madhya Pradesh. The Chief Minister directed officials to ensure the participation of local public representatives in these programmes.
Students will also be introduced to the exemplary lives of Lord Krishna and his close friend Sudama, with the celebrations highlighting their values, character and the importance of learning under the guidance of a guru.
Calling for widespread public participation, CM Dr Yadav said the 'Maharshi Sandipani Shraddha Parv' should become a people's movement that strengthens respect for teachers, deepens faith in Indian culture and reinforces the timeless values of the guru-shishya tradition.

He added that it is a collective responsibility to connect future generations with India's glorious cultural and educational legacy, ensuring that these traditions continue to inspire society for years to come.
