Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav on Saturday announced a wide-ranging set of initiatives covering youth welfare, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, education, energy and tourism while addressing the state on its 80th Independence Day.

Hoisting the national flag at the Lal Parade Ground in Bhopal, CM Dr Yadav said 2027 would be dedicated to youth welfare and outlined measures aimed at boosting skills, employment, entrepreneurship and sports.

UCC, youth skills among key announcements

CM Dr Yadav said Madhya Pradesh was implementing the Uniform Civil Code, describing it as a step towards equality and harmony. He said the UCC would seek to eliminate discriminatory practices and help protect women from oppression and injustice.

On youth development, he identified seven priority areas; quality education, skill development, entrepreneurship and self-employment, employment, start-ups, sports, art, culture and leadership development.

More than one lakh youngsters will receive ITI training by next year, while 10,000 youth will receive skill-based training annually at the Global Skills Park. The government also plans to expand the number of start-ups in the state from 8,000 to more than 12,000 and establish 100 new incubation centres.

Healthcare and cyber security get push

The Chief Minister announced that diagnostic services would become paperless from November 1, 2026, with patients’ health information maintained digitally and specialist consultations made available online.

To tackle the shortage of doctors, the government plans to recruit 1,000 doctors within six months. An advanced Cyber Security Research Centre will also be established to strengthen the prevention and investigation of cybercrime.

Investment, infrastructure and green energy

CM Dr Yadav said the Global Investors Summit would be held again in Bhopal in 2027. He claimed Madhya Pradesh had received investment proposals worth more than ₹34 lakh crore over the past two and a half years, with proposals worth over ₹10 lakh crore already grounded.

The government is also working to make all 55 districts export hubs and establish an MSME Park in every district. Metropolitan regions are planned for Bhopal and Indore, with Jabalpur and Gwalior to follow. The state aims to raise green energy’s share of its power capacity from 30% to 50%, while more than 550 electric buses are planned for major cities.

Farmers, women and rural development

CM Dr Yadav announced that farmers would receive four times the compensation for agricultural land acquisition. He said more than ₹3 lakh crore had been transferred to farmers’ bank accounts through various schemes over the past two and a half years.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the Mukhyamantri Ladli Behna Yojana, saying it had economically empowered around 1.25 crore women. He said Madhya Pradesh would continue expanding irrigation, rural development and women-centric welfare initiatives.

CM Dr Yadav concluded his address by highlighting the government’s development agenda, including tourism, cultural heritage, energy, infrastructure and employment, while paying tribute to freedom fighters and extending Independence Day greetings to the people of Madhya Pradesh.
