Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav will honour 47 police and Home Guard personnel with medals at a ceremonial investiture programme to be held at Lal Parade Ground in Bhopal on August 15.

The Chief Minister will present medals conferred by the President to police and Home Guard officers and personnel in recognition of their distinguished and meritorious service. He will also confer the Uttam Jeevan Raksha Padak (Best Life-Saving Medal) on two recipients during the ceremony.

9 senior cops to receive distinguished service medals

A total of nine police personnel will be honoured with the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service.

The recipients include Yogesh Deshmukh, Director General of Police, Lokayukta, Madhya Pradesh; Makarand Deouskar, Inspector General of Police, BSF, New Delhi; Rakesh Gupta, Additional Director General of Police, Ujjain Zone; Santosh Kumar Singh, Commissioner of Police, Indore; and Mithilesh Kumar Shukla, Inspector General of Police, Sagar Zone.

Others receiving the distinguished service medal are Avdesh Kumar Goswami, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Kalyan-Lekha, Police Headquarters, Bhopal; retired inspector Shivkumar Patel of the Special Branch, Indore; Walter Henry Ekka, Head Constable, 25th Battalion, SAF, Bhopal; and Devendra Kumar Kaushal, Head Constable (Arms), 7th Battalion, Bhopal.

33 to receive meritorious service medals

As many as 33 police officers and personnel will be conferred the President’s Medal for Meritorious Service.

The awardees include Krishnaaveni Desavatu, Deputy Inspector General of Police and Duty Officer, Home Department; Dharmendra Singh Bhadoria, DIG/Commandant, RAPTC, Indore; Vijay Kumar Khatri, DIG, Chhatarpur; Manoj Kumar Rai, DIG, Selection/Recruitment, Police Headquarters, Bhopal; and several other senior officers serving in specialised units including the Special Branch, STF, Lokayukta, Cyber Headquarters, EOW, ATS and SCRB.

The list also includes officers and personnel from Indore, Bhopal, Ujjain, Jabalpur, Chhindwara, Sagar and Shajapur, along with some retired personnel.

3 Home Guard personnel to be honoured

Three Home Guard and Civil Defence personnel will also receive the President’s Medal for Meritorious Service.

They are volunteer Lance Naik Santosh Kumar Shukla of Shajapur district, volunteer CQM Sunil Kumar Jain of Ujjain district and volunteer Lance Naik Narendra Awasthi of Indore district.

2 to receive best life-saving medal

The Uttam Jeevan Raksha Padak will be presented to two individuals for their life-saving efforts.

The recipients are Manohar Singh Chauhan of Mandsaur district, who will be honoured posthumously, and Rajendra Prasad Mishra, acting Assistant Sub-Inspector, Damoh district.

The medal ceremony will form part of the Independence Day celebrations in Bhopal, recognising the commitment and service of police and Home Guard personnel across Madhya Pradesh.
