Amid the ongoing protest by farmers in the state capital, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav on Wednesday reaffirmed his government's commitment to addressing the farming community's concerns through dialogue, stressing that every constructive suggestion from farmers will be given due consideration.

Speaking to the media in Bhopal, the Chief Minister said the state government remains firmly committed to farmers' welfare and is observing the current year as 'Agriculture Welfare Year' across Madhya Pradesh. He highlighted that several farmer-centric initiatives have already been launched to strengthen the agricultural sector and improve the livelihoods of cultivators.

CM Dr Yadav said the government's priority is to maintain continuous communication with farmers, understand their challenges, and work collaboratively towards making agriculture more prosperous, sustainable and profitable.

Committee formed to address farmers' issues

Emphasising the importance of meaningful engagement, the Chief Minister announced that the state government has constituted a dedicated committee to facilitate dialogue with farmers and identify practical solutions to their concerns.

According to CM Dr Yadav, the committee has been tasked with visiting farmers, listening to their grievances, gathering their suggestions and understanding their expectations from the government. The initiative aims to ensure that policy decisions are shaped by direct feedback from the farming community.

He further informed that Agriculture Minister Aendal Singh Kansana was deputed on Wednesday to initiate discussions with the protesting farmers. On Thursday, the Agriculture Minister, along with ministers Krishna Gaur, Vishvas Sarang and Rakesh Singh, as well as senior government officials, will continue the dialogue with farmer representatives in an effort to resolve outstanding issues amicably.

Farmers' welfare remains govt's top priority

The Chief Minister reiterated that the state government has always stood by farmers and remains open to every constructive and practical suggestion that could strengthen the agricultural sector.

He said the administration is committed to resolving every genuine issue faced by farmers through discussions and mutual understanding. At the same time, Dr Yadav underlined the importance of ensuring that public inconvenience is minimised during protests, describing it as a shared responsibility of all stakeholders.

"The welfare of farmers is our highest priority, but it is equally important to ensure that ordinary citizens do not face unnecessary hardship. We believe every issue can be resolved through dialogue and consensus," he said.

Appeal for constructive cooperation

Appealing to farmer organisations, including the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh, the Chief Minister expressed confidence that they would extend positive cooperation while keeping the broader interests of both farmers and the public in mind.

He said that since all stakeholders ultimately share the common objective of improving the lives of farmers, constructive discussions and mutual cooperation would pave the way for lasting and meaningful solutions.
